Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

We made a stop here after my wife finished running the OKC Memorial Marathon. Her one wish, tex-mex. Poblano could not have done a better job fulfilling her request! I had, what I am sure was , the best cheese chimichanga anywhere. My wife had the steak fajitas. The chimi was so full of cheese that strings of it were hanging every time I cut a bite! The fajita meat was so good you almost didnt want to cover the taste with all of the fixings. Another part I loved was the way the chimi sauce was in a bowl, keeping the chimichanga crispy. Our server was not the friendliest or most attentive person we have had but it was a little busy. We will be back!

I can't rave enough about the service I receive from this restaurant. I have a special dietary need (Celiac/Gluten Free), and this location is always very, very accommodating. A lot of restaurants claim to be GF or GF friendly, but this place truly understands what GF means and takes the proper precautions against cross contamination and accidental exposure. I would like to give a huge kudos to the manager, Jennifer, for her welcoming attitude and helpfulness. I have dined at "fancier" places that act like I'm putting them out when I tell them that I have a severe allergy and I that I need the kitchen staff to be careful. It has actually kept me from dining out over the years, save for two or three regular restaurants, because it's such an ordeal/worry/hassle to deal with. Jennifer makes me feel welcome and assured that I'm not going to be calling into work for 3-5 days after eating Poblano's food.

I visited Poblano once when I first moved to Oklahoma City, found it essentially unremarkable (average-to-poor service, mediocre food), and just assumed I'd never be back. It never occurred to me that this is an extremely popular place with many different folks at my office, and that I would therefore keep coming back ... over and over ... because while I talk a good game about standing on principles, I'm still a fundamentally decent person and won't object if the group wants to go. Since that first visit, I've had wildly inconsistent experiences -- some very good, and some pretty terrible. My survival guide for Poblano is as follows: - Lunch only, preferably on a crowded day. One would think that service and such would be better during a down time than a busy one, but one would be wrong. Most of the staff seems to care during the busy times and slack off otherwise. - Tortilla soup, yes. Salsa/chips, no. Egads, no. - Drinks are better than average for this kind of place, and can help make the food a little more palatable. So drink up. - Be prepared to disregard those rules; as I said, food quality and service have varied wildly during my visits. As other reviewers have mentioned, this is Americanized Mexican and better at lunch. Enjoy!

I ordered a dish that was not what I expected. Jennifer, the manager, let me order something I'd like and took the first item off our ticket. Very professional and the food is good.

I've been coming to this location for lunch for several years... And other locations for dinner. I really enjoy Poblano Grill!! You name it, I've pretty much tried everything on the menu at one time or another. All I can say is that I have never been disappointed!! The food is aways very good, fresh, hot, and served quickly!! The service for the most part is always pretty good too.... there is on occasion the server that should not be a server... gotta remember, I've been coming here for years... can't be perfect all the time. All in all, great place to eat for lunch or dinner!!!

I like Poblano. I go there often because its so close to my home, the service is friendly and very quick. I've had much better more authentic mexican food....Poblano is more tex-mex. They automatically give you the chips, tortillas, salsa and queso dip as soon as you sit down. I think their chips are great, they are light and flaky and not too filling, although its near impossible to leave this place with out being completely full! No matter what we order our food is always there quick. Over priced for mexican food, but quick. So I'll wrap this up by saying Poblano is an "Okay" place, but I wouldnt go out of your way for this average tex-mex joint. If your passing by around lunch time give it a try.

Pretty decent Tex-Mex. I'd say it's more of a place for lunch than for dinner. Service has always been good and you shouldn't leave hungry.

Food - 3 stars Service - 3 stars Intangibles - 2 stars Margaritas - ?? some other time perhaps Let me start out by saying that I begrudgingly give this a 3 star. Truth is, I have had plenty better Mexican food, just not in Oklahoma. The food and service here are passable, but as I have quite a fondness for good mexican food, I doubt that I will be returning. Like all Mexican chains in OK, this is yet another Ted's knockoff...meaning that you sit down, they automatically bring you cheese dip, salsa, chips, and tortillas. Sounds sweet, right? Except, the chips were light and flaky with no flavor and couldn't even hold up to the salsa. The cheese dip is yet again yellow cheese based and really quite flavorless. The tortillas actually were excellent, but with terrible cheese dip and salsa, what good are tortillas? That is why I had to give the intangibles a 2 star rating. Subpar starters for 5 bucks, no thanks. Keep your cheesedip and save me 4 bucks on the meal...then we'll have a deal. I ordered the soft taco dinner which came with two tacos and beans and rice...pretty standard fare if you ask me. The ground beef was flavorful and the cheese was bountiful. Also came with tomatoes but I had them hold the lettuce. I added the rice into the tacos, which was probably good, because the rice on its own didn't have a ton of flavor. Some sour cream probably would have gone a long way towards sprucing up these tacos, as would have a really good salsa. I liked the tacos just fine...just not exactly wanting to pay 10 bucks for this meal. For those that enjoy Ted's or Chelino's or any other OK mexican style establishment, you will probably enjoy this place just fine. For me, the hunt goes on another day.

Between the server never taking an empty plate or cup away, the to-go box that we requested and never received and the general inattention to our table, this was the worst experience that we had at this restaurant. I thought that since the parking lot was empty when we got there that we would have good service, but no... All three of the tables being served by our waitress (Lindsay btw) received the same level of inattention we did. I will give this restaurant another chance before writing it off. Maybe the parking lot was empty for a reason...

I've been in here three times for lunch. Everytime the service has been great and the food was wonderful. The waitstaff wasn't pushy when we lingered around for a while and they kept filling up our cups. The food was great. Last time I was there, I got the Chicken Enchilada and Beef Taco lunch platter. Both were great and I ate way more than I usually would. The food came out quick. The other person with me got the Tortilla Soup and said it was good. Both came out with large portions and we got sopapilla at the end that were great. Final cost was around $20 for both meals combined. I consider it a good value due to the quality and portions.
